Kafue National Park

Kafue National Park is Zambia’s largest nature reserve matching the size of Wales in England or Massachusetts in the USA. The park was established in 1924 by the British colonial government displacing the Nkoya people to today’s Kafue’s Province. Named after the Kafue River, the national park is generally flat and stretches over 3 provinces. Kafue is rich in wildlife with large herds of hooved mammals, 495 species of birds and small patches of woodland forests and thickets along the rivers.
