This morning you will be met at your cruise vessel by your private guide and vehicle for your day tour to the Litchfield National Park.
Please note; please bring shoes suitable for walking short distances on uneven terrain, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, a swimming costume and towel.
Travel approximately two hours south from Darwin past abandoned WWII airstrips and the town of Batchelor for the approximately one hour journey through the Litchfield National Park. Ascend the rocky Tabletop Range where dry woodlands and forests dominate the huge sandstone plateau. Arrive at Litchfield National Park. This fascinating, uniquely beautiful area was originally the home of the Aboriginal Wagait people.
Travel through the park to the famous Termite Mounds. One of Litchfield's unique sights, this collection of hundreds of termite mounds standing over six feet high in a wide swathe of empty ground has the appearance of a graveyard. The mounds are like enormous magnetic compasses with their thin edges pointing north-south and broad backs east-west, minimizing their exposure to the sun. This ingenious design keeps the mounds cool for the termites inside.
Drive to Wangi Falls. The falls flow into a large, easily accessible swimming hole surrounded by lush monsoonal rainforest making them Litchfield National Park's most popular attraction.
On conclusion of the tour, you will be transferred to the cruise terminal to reboard your vessel.
Tour duration: approximately 8 hours
Cost includes: touring in luxury vehicle, professional local guide, pick-up and return to the cruise ship, lunch
