Naples - Full Day to Capri - 8 hours
Climb aboard the hydrofoil at Naples Port for a full day of fun 'alla Caprese' and discover what keeps the jet set coming back to the enchanted Isle of Capri, from 1st C Emperor Caesar Augustus to 20th C fashion icon Jackie O...
Your trip begins at the Port of Naples - one of the Mediterranean's busiest seaports and the jumping off point for the hydrofoil to Capri. During the roughly 45-minute crossing, your guide will regale you with stories of the people, places and history that have made this four-mile block of limestone so legendary. Once on the island, visit Marina Grande, the main port and a seaside gem with a jumble of multicolored traditional houses, terraced slopes bursting with Mediterranean blooms and jaw-dropping mountains rising up behind. The tour continues by funicular railway to Capri Town. Perched on the saddleback between the island's main mountains, this is where the see-and-be-seen set sips Bellinis on La Piazzetta and high fashion boutiques and artisan workshops line the narrow, elegant streets. And finally, we take a taxi over the gentle slopes of Monte Solaro to Ana Capri, the island's "second city" perched on a verdant plateau. Despite its popularity, Ana Capri still retains its original charms, with cobblers and embroiderers peddling their wares and bougainvillea draping the characteristic whitewashed houses that show its Moorish influence. One highlight of this end of the island is Villa San Michele. Built at the turn of the 20th century by Swedish physician, nature lover and Renaissance man Axel Munthe, we'll visit its lush gardens, charming museum and quaint chapel. More adventurous types might enjoy a chairlift ride up to the summit of Monte Solaro for 360-degree views of this inimitable landscape, before returning to Marina Grande for the hydrofoil.

Naples - VIP Capri Day - 8 hours

What's the best way to experience the Isle of Capri? From the water of course. Join your captain to cruise on a private motorboat across the Bay of Naples to what just might be the world's favorite island...
Join our driver for the quick trip to Borgo Marinaro Port, where you'll meet your English-speaking captain and board your private motorboat for the crossing to Capri. Leaving the cityscape of Naples and the citrus groves of the Sorrento Peninsula behind, the Gulf of Naples opens up before you and Capri beckons with its myriad charms. Circling this 4-mile-long block of limestone is a quick trip, leaving plenty of time to get up close and personal with some of Capri's most legendary sights, like the Bagni di Tiberio where the 1st century Roman Emperor used to swim; Lo Scoglio delle Sirene, the siren's rocks where legend has it Odysseus faced his greatest temptation and the storied Faraglioni, three staggering rock formations jutting out of the Tyrrhenian sea. Your captain is more than happy to customize the cruise to suit your needs - stop at a seaside restaurant for some fresh-off-the-hook seafood, take a dip in a secluded cove accessible only by boat (don't forget the swimsuits!) or make landfall to see and be seen with the rest of the jet set. Venice lies in the centre of a vast lagoon that stretches for about 30 miles from north to south, studded by numerous small islands, mostly deserted. This amazing environment is what drove the Venetians to establish their city here, a perfectly secure and inaccessible little world. Enjoy the beauty of a ride across the waters of the lagoon; visit the island of Murano, where glass has been made for over 700 years and where you can see the age-old techniques of glass blowing still in use today.
Continue to Torcello, to see the breathtaking mosaics in the Basilica di Santa Maria dell’Assunta, the oldest building on the lagoon. After a leisurely lunch (payable locally) you reach the island of Burano, a quaint and colourful fisherman island famous for its lace and charming architecture.

Highlights:
  • Cruise across the lagoon to Murano, where glass has been made for over 700 years using the same techniques
  • Explore Torcello and Burano, a colourful fishing village famous for its lace and charming architecture

Shipboard Policies
  • Internet Access
For guests' convenience, all Viking ships have Internet access, as follows:

    • Ships in Europe, Russia and Ukraine - There is free Wi-Fi available, so you can bring your laptop and get online at any time. Alternatively, each ship has a few computers for guest use; there are desktop machines in Russia and laptops in Europe that guests may use free of charge. Guests who bring laptops to Russia may wish to bring a LAN cable for use in their stateroom; this may work a bit better than the wireless LAN in rural areas along the river.
    • Ships in China - There is an Internet café with desktop stations for guest use, free of charge. There is no onboard wireless network in China or Southeast Asia, so you will not be able to get Internet service on your personal computer while on the ship, although you may be able to do so during hotel stays.
    • Please note - Shipboard service may be unreliable during certain parts of the journey. The Internet connection functions via cellular service or satellite downlink, and there may be times when reception is not possible and/or when the connection is quite slow. For this reason, it is recommended that guests use the internet connection checking and sending email only, and not for downloading large files or watching video online.

  • Pregnancy Policy
Viking reserves the right not to accept passengers who are in an advanced state of pregnancy either upon commencement of or at any time during the river or ocean cruise.

  • Smoking Policy
All Viking ship interiors, staterooms, and verandas are non-smoking. Each ship has an outdoor smoking area, generally on the sun deck.

  • Special Dietary Needs - Advance Notice Required
Viking will make every effort to accommodate special dietary needs. Every meal has vegetarian options on the menu, and chefs are able to prepare low-salt or gluten-free cuisine. Guests requiring special diets, such as diabetic or low-cholesterol meals, must alert Viking Cruises one month prior to departure and inform the Maitre d’ when on board, and the chefs will make make reasonable efforts to fulfill these requests.

  • Wheelchair Access & Special Needs
Guests must report any disability requiring special attention while on their Viking Cruises itinerary to Viking at the time the reservation is made. All vessels and motorcoaches are equipped to European standards. Most transportation services, including the vessels and motorcoaches, are not equipped with elevators or wheelchair ramps. Viking will make reasonable attempts to accommodate the special needs of disabled travelers, but is not responsible in the event it is unable to do so nor is it responsible for any denial of services by vessel operators, air carriers, hotels, restaurants, or other independent suppliers. Viking cannot provide individual assistance to a vacation participant for walking, dining, getting on and off vessels, motorcoaches and other vehicles, or other personal needs. A qualified and physically able companion must accompany travelers who need such assistance and must assume full responsibility for their well being. The guest assumes the full risk of use and of any prohibitions imposed by vendors. Motorized scooters are not typically suitable on international cruises and cannot be accommodated.

Guests who have any medical, physical, or other special needs should contact Viking River Cruises directly at 1-877-668-4546 (1-877-66VIKING) with additional questions, and to obtain a copy of Viking's Policy Statement.
