Santorini Island Tour - Half Day Tour approx 4 hours

You will be met by your English-speaking guide upon disembarkation from the ship, at the bottom of the cable car at the Old Port of Fira. Our lovely tour starts with a scenic drive through the plains of Santorini to picturesque Oia, the crowning glory of peace and tranquility.

Built on the northern part of the caldera rim, it is here where many artists have been inspired due to its magnificent location with its most superb views of the caldera, the rest of the island and the Aegean Sea.. We then stop at one of the famous wineries to enjoy a wine tasting tour of the fine wines produced on the island. Our final stop is Fira, the islands capital town.

The island used to be circular, but a massive volcanic explosion around 3,500 years ago blew out the centre of the island. (Many people attribute the decline of Minoan civilization on Crete to this cataclysmic eruption. High cliffs jutting into the sea are all that's left of the crater rim.

The surrounding islands are the remains of the sides of the crater, and the sea has filled in the gaps, forming a beautiful bay. Sunsets on the island are particularly striking; all the restaurants and bars in Fira face west over the sunken volcano and the Aegean Sea.

Coimbra & Óbidos Medieval Village (6 - 8 Hours)
Imagem relacionadaMeet your private chauffeur at the dock and hit the road direction to Coimbra, one of Portugal's oldest cities and home to one of the world's first universities.

It was the capital of the country from 1139 to 1256 and its university was founded in 1290. Today this impressive university is still one of the world's most illustrious and the city's biggest attraction. Most impressive of all is the baroque style library, Biblioteca Joanina, one of the world’s most resplendent. It was built in the early 18th century with rooms rich in gilt and exotic wood, and lined with 300,000 books. Enjoy a walking tour through the old part of the city, with a visit to the two cathedrals - the Old Cathedral (“Sé Velha") and the New Cathedral (“Sé Nova").

Lunch (not included) will be served in a restaurant that offers an informal atmosphere and sharing concept. Indulge in a "Market Kitchen", which uses the region's traditional products to create unique recipes, renewed four times a year, to the rhythm of the seasons.

After lunch, the journey continues direction towards the magnificent medieval city of Óbidos, Portugal’s most romantic medieval town.

The entire city of Óbidos was declared a National Monument. It is known as the "Weeding Gift" because it was a gift that D. Dinis gave to Queen Elizabeth on their wedding day in 1282. However, it is not only this fact that makes it such an extraordinarily romantic place - which makes it one of the most romantic medieval towns in Europe are its incredibly picturesque cobbled streets lined with colorful houses full of geraniums and bougainvillea, Gothic doors and windows, whitewashed churches, pots and glazed tiles all surrounded by the walls of a 12th century castle.

At the end of the day, your driver will take you to the dock in Lisbon.

Since it was the property of the queens of Portugal, Obidos always enjoyed special protection from the royal court and at one time had a school of arts and sciences. Lisbon Jewish Inheritance (6 - 8 Hours)

Today, with the assistance of your guide, visit the Sha'are Tikva (Gates of Hope) Synagogue. In 1871 the Jews of Lisbon were granted permission to build a synagogue, a dream not fully realized until the dedication of the Shaare Tikva in 1904. The synagogue served as the centre of Jewish life in Lisbon thereafter; it was a sanctuary for the thousands of Jewish refugees who passed through Portugal during World War II.

For lunch (not included) we suggest an informal and cheerful restaurant whit natural blend of the traditional and the modern. The cuisine, largely Portuguese inspired, is nevertheless influenced by travels abroad.

Passing the Rossio, the original headquarters of the Inquisition, reach the Largo da Graça, from where you can admire the magnificent city view, the Tagus River, and the “Seven Hills” of Lisbon. Continue to Porta do Sol, descending on foot through Alfama, Lisbon's oldest area.

The city's legendary seven hills will also seduce you into admiring characteristic mosaic pavements and dazzling tiled façades, and will reward you with strategically-placed viewpoints offering breathtaking panoramas over the city after a ride on a charming old tram.

Explore the Alfama district, the Lisbon heart during Moorish times. The Moors have moved on, but the neighborhood retains an exotic atmosphere. Visit to the St. Georges Castle formerly a Moorish citadel. The castle boasts panoramic views of the city.

You'll find yourself wandering through colorful XVIII century squares downtown and getting lost in the medieval maze of the Alfama district overlooked by an ancient castle. Jewish refugees from Spain settled here in the fifteenth century. The entrance to the neighborhood’s Jewish quarter, or Judiaría, was through the Arco de Rosario.

Just inside the arch is a brick wall with a pair of decorative arched windows near the top - all that remains of what is believed to have been the quarter's synagogue. Up the winding stairway just inside the arch is the Rua da Judiaría, the central artery of the former Jewish quarter. The typical medieval houses have a narrow door that was the family entrance and a wider one that often housed the place of business, such as a shop or workshop.

Resultado de imagem para sintra jeep tour extremo ambiente

Meet your private chauffeur at the dock.

Today is a superb day in the quaint and aristocratic, World Heritage by UNESCO, town of Sintra - where Lord Byron lived and considered it to be “Paradise in Earth”. You'll see castles, fortresses, forests, and beautiful scenery.

Sintra and its mystical hills dotted with fairytale palaces and extravagant villas have bewitched visitors for centuries. The Romans made it a place of cult moon worshiping and named it "Cynthia" after the goddess of the moon. They were followed by the Moors who also fell in love with the lush vegetation and built a hilltop castle, a palace, and several fountains around the town. Later it became the summer residence of the Portuguese royal family and attracted a number of wealthy aristocrats who built huge mansions and villas.

Indulge in a half-day Jeep tour through the hills of Sintra, diving into a unique nature. Mandatory stops at the Peninha Sanctuary or the most western point of the Europe, the awe-inspiring viewpoint at Cabo da Roca.

Ending the tour, you will be dropped off at the dock.

Resultado de imagem para évora

Meet your private chauffeur at the dock. Today, your driver will take you to Alentejo Region, to get to know the city of Évora and taste the local flavors.

With the help from your expert guide, enjoy a panoramic tour through Évora historic centre. You will be lectured on the city highlights and local monuments history, like the Roman Temple, the Bones Chapel and the Medieval Cathedral.

''Evora is the finest example of a city of the golden age of Portugal after the destruction of Lisbon by the earthquake of 1755” Inscription criteria on the List of the UNESCO World Heritage (1985). Due to part of the town which being enclosed by ancient walls preserved in its original state and, to its monuments dating from various historical periods, Évora is included in UNESCO's World Heritage list.

Lunch (not included) will be served in a small, cozy and friendly restaurant, where the regional cuisine is well prepared according to family recipes. The decoration is rustic, supported in the extensive wine cellar, brand image of this house.

Your journey continues towards Vila Viçosa, a Royal retreat of marble extravaganza. Upon arrival, explore the city on your own.

All around the peaceful wide streets of Vila Viçosa lined with orange and lemon trees seems to be made of marble. Benches, sidewalks, framing windows and doors are made of this brilliant "white gold", the local marble from the huge quarries outside the city.

The next stop will be Arraiolos, where you can enjoy the art of tapestry.

This town situated under the ruins of a Moorish castle actually dates back to Celtic times, but is mostly famous for its carpets that originated with the Moors and were later inspired by Persian and Indian designs during the Age of Discoveries. Many of them now cover the most famous houses and palaces in Portugal, and although they are sold all over the country, the biggest bargains are found in many of the shops in Arraiolos.

At the end of the day, your driver will take you to the dock.

Includes: Transportation - Full-Day at Disposal, as per itinerary, by Deluxe Vehicle, with English Speaking Fluent Driver (6 - 8 Hours); Expert Guide - Half-day at Disposal, as per itinerary (3 – 4); Entrance fees at Bones Chapel, S. Francisco Church and Medieval Cathedral (Optional).

Even the olive oil presses reveal themselves as picture frames, one freshly finished while the next waits empty, until others come to paint them in, so that diners can glance over to find their senses aroused right up to the last mouthful.

Time to explore, on your own, the medieval town of Monsaraz village. It is a truly unique place where one can find all the peace and tranquility that have been forgotten by the modern era.

Stop at a local store dating back 1830 with the regional blankets and tapestry is highly recommended. It’s a small shop that sells colorful refined blankets and shawls woven according to local traditions and which are sold internationally at KENZO Home, after the company’s founder Kenzo Takada visited the 19th century factory himself.
