Marseille - Half Day Tour - 4 hours
Marseille Shore Excursion. The oldest city of France yet elected European Capital of Culture in 2014, Marseille is continuously changing and offering a contrast between tradition and modernity. Worldwide known for its old port, turquoise calanques and typical provencal markets, do not miss the visit of the third city of France!

9:00 am or 2:00 pm: Be met at the foot of your cruise ship in Marseille’ port.

You will visit Marseille, the largest and most popular commune in France after Paris, also the third largest metropolitan area in France. You can start your visit for example with The Pharo promontory that was just a mere rocky plateau on which only rushes and wild grasses grew, but Napoleon decided to build "a house at the water's edge"; the residence was never actually used…but became today one of the finest architectural complexes in Europe!

The guide will drive you to the famous Notre Dame de la Garde, « Our Good Mother » as the Marseillais call her with affection; the 19th century impressive church dominates the city and the view from the churchyard is just astonishing. Inside, you will see dozens of ex-votos, many of them in the shape of boats placed there by grateful sailors. The tour will continue with a scenic drive around town. Marseille is busy renovating its majestic Second Empire buildings, adding interesting modern architecture and buzzing with the energy of a new Golden Age.

You will pass the Corniche where you will see the most beautiful houses of Marseille, towards the Palais Longchamp, originally the water tower of the town, a very beautiful example of 19th century architecture; the Park Longchamp is today the largest park of central Marseille.

Marseille - Full Day Tour - 8 hours
Marseille Shore Excursion. The largest and most populous commune in France after Paris, centre of the third largest metropolitan area in France.

9:00 am: Be met at the foot of your cruise ship in Marseilles’ port.

You will pass the Corniche where you will see the most beautiful houses of Marseille, towards the Palais Longchamp, originally the water tower of the town, a very beautiful example of 19th century architecture; the Park Longchamp is today the largest park of central Marseille. Enjoy lunch at leisure in a restaurant suggested by your guide.

In the afternoon, we suggest a visit of the Mucem (new museum which opens in 2013). This national museum is located on a site which includes the Fort Saint-Jean, a historic monument overlooking the Vieux-Port, and a new building designed by architect Rudy Ricciotti on the J4 esplanade. On the Greek and Roman ruins of the ancient state-city, there is a 12th century chapel that was part of the former Commandry of St. John of Jerusalem, the medieval tower of King René (built between 1447 and 1453), and the Tour du Fanal erected in the 17th century at the request of ship-owners to light up the entrance to the harbour, surrounded by various military fortifications. The MuCEM's location is therefore a location steeped in history and memories, at the heart of a prestigious heritage site - Cathédrale de la Major, Eglise Saint-Laurent, with views of the Palais du Pharo, and the Abbaye Saint-Victor, the sea and the islands of Friuli - overlooking "the Suez and beyond".

See the ruins of the Temple of Jupiter and marvel at the magnificent bronze equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius at Campidoglio Square.

Afterwards, explore the museums, extended over two buildings; the Palazzo dei Conservatori, where you can view splendid frescoes portraying the history of Rome and the Pinacoteca (Picture gallery), and Palazzo Nuovo, where you can admire the wonderful sculptures. Finally visit the ancient Tabularium whose monumental arches overlook the Forum.

Continue up along the Via Veneto to the elegant Villa Borghese, accompanied by your local expert guide and private vehicle. Surrounded by a leafy parkland, the villa was originally designed as a palace of pleasure and entertainment to house Cardinal Scipione Borghese’s incredible collection of antiquities, paintings and custom pieces. Today the collections of sculpture and paintings are among the most important in Italy. Admire the stunning Caravaggio canvases, Titian's enigmatic ‘Sacred and Profane Love’ and the striking sculptures by Bernini and Canova during this fabulous visit. Return to Civitavecchia from here.

Along the way, enjoy a bite of Naples’ famous street food ‘frittura’, a sinfully delicious mix of deep fried aubergines (eggplant), zucchini, mozzarella, arancini (rice croquettes), cauliflower, or potato croquettes.

Art Exhibitions
Who needs a refined palette to know when a piece is good? Carnival leaves snobbish cultural pretensions ashore and makes art something that everyone can enjoy with a series of events designed to bring great art where it belongs - to the people.
Holidays Aboard
This makes the ship a great place to call home for a while, gathering with your friends and family. For one, there’s Halloween, where costumes at sea are just the beginning. When Thanksgiving comes along, it calls for a feast with absolutely no cooking on your part. Christmas festivities are a big deal.
Art Seminars
Carnival offers such a variety of educational and enlightening seminars that carnival cruises should hand out Art History degrees at the end of each cruise! You may not be an accredited university, but your cruise features an ‘Art 101’ lecture series designed to be your entrance into this vibrant world.
Games
Carnival would add that play is important to ALL ages, so onboard games are a huge part of the Carnival experience for the young and old! From physical challenges to scavenger hunts to the very appropriate Battle of the Ages - the trivia game that actually pits kids against adults - Carnival puts the “all” in “fun for all.”
Video Arcade

Art Games
You’ll have the chance to experience art truly in motion… during lively onboard art games! Nobody would mistake this vacation for a ‘still life’ — these action-packed competitions truly ‘pop,’ giving you a chance to try your hand at ‘impressionism’- showing what you know about the dollars and cents of art valuation.
Library
It’s a great place to read, but if the roar of the ocean is more your soundtrack, the library is a great place to find a good read to borrow and devour, al fresco. You’ll also find the libraries stocked with a variety of awesome board games for the whole family to enjoy!
Dr. Seuss Bookville
Dr. Seuss’s wacky contraptions set to maximum fun, of course. It would probably come out looking much like Dr. Seuss Bookville, which as you can imagine, is exclusive aboard Carnival!
Dreams Studio
On the same ship with the waterslides and conga lines is actually a photographic oasis. Everybody looks their best, smiles their biggest smiles on vacation and at Dreams Studio the professional photographers beautifully capture this side of individuals, couples, groups or families.
Pixels

You’ll find the pros all over the ship: when you’re gathered around the dining room table, as you step off the ship at your destination and plenty of times in between. Look, you'll still be on the same ship as the kids, the hoopla, and all the Carnival-style excitement, but you could easily forget because when you’re at Serenity you could not be further from it all.
Dive In Movies
Park yourself in front of the big screen - the really big screen - and settle in for some real stars at Carnival Seaside Theater. From the comfort of your poolside lounge chair, or even the pool itself, you'll enjoy sporting events and recent blockbuster movies think Comedy, Action & Adventure and Date Night.
Mega Deck Party
You can imagine what the Mega Deck Party can do for vacationers like you! Show up to the open-air Lido Deck pool area ready to have a good time under the stars. The ship’s DJ, cruise director, and entertainment staff will be on-hand to get things going… and keep everyone moving.
Pools
Your Carnival cruise has just the pool for you. In fact, pools are so important to a great cruise that designed many of the ships to have two of them.
Mini Golf
Imagine a perfect day out on the links, the golfer's zen of the ball, the hole and nothing in between but well-manicured fairway... plus one cactus, a treasure chest... and wait, is that a windmill in the way? maximum fun for mini-golfers, big and small! where you can hit the holes and take in everything you’d expect, like the sights and the sounds... plus the seagulls.
Groove For St. Jude
Carnival cruise can move you to support a great cause like St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital! Come on out to Groove For St. Jude - where all are grooving on every sailing - and make a small donation to help to move towards finding cures and saving children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
Jogging Track
Jogging may not immediately come to mind when you think of things to do at sea, but it probably should. You don’t have to walk on water, you just have to get on a Carnival cruise. Jogging tracks are available on almost all Carnival ships, and are even padded for long-distance comfort.
Twister Waterslide
Countless gallons of water rush through the entire length of this slide, so you're by no means dry when you start, but by the time you reach the end - hundreds of feet later - you reach new levels of soaking, splashing down in that classic waterslide photo-finish: hands-up, eyes wide and nothing but exhilaration on your face.
Sailaway Party
There are two kinds of people - land people and sea people. Unless they were born on a pirate ship or something, pretty much everybody starts out as a land person. But there’s a process for becoming a sea person, and the Caribbean Sailaway Party on your first Carnival cruise is where the transformation occurs.
Basketball
You may think basketball is all about the hoop and getting the ball in there, but you may not have ever played on a Carnival ship. Here, it’s all about the journey to the hoop: the view and the sea breeze you take in as you drive your way past defenders to put the rock in the bucket.
Waterworks
Wanna splish and splash the day away? Head on over to WaterWorks, Carnival's onboard waterpark. First up, there's the Twister Waterslide, hundreds of feet of spiraling awesomeness that starts you off high in the air and gets you down low with one of the fastest, wettest rides you'll find anywhere.
Pickleball
You’ll get used to it. This game’s history goes way back to the 60s but it’s gotten pretty popular lately, and best of all your cruise is a great time to learn the simple rules and take a whack at this game — pop! — yep, like they just did.

Kids & Teens

Night Owls
Nighttime is a fun time, especially with all there is to do on your Carnival cruise. Carnival has the perfect thing for you and for your kids, and it’s called “Night Owls”! For a nominal fee, kids 11 and under can fun it up with others their age until as late as 1 a.m.
Camp Ocean
At Camp, Ocean kids will have a blast in supervised, age-based groups and give each a cool marine-life label: Penguins (2 to 5 years), Stingrays (6 to 8 years) and Sharks (9 to 11 years).
Club O2
At Club O2. Hang out doing stuff like watching movies, listening to music from this decade, playing sports and video games, joining karaoke jam sessions maybe even attending Carnival’s version of prom, all with other high schoolers ages 15 to 17.
Circle C
It’s the onboard spot where teens ages 12 to 14 go to hang out, meet new friends, and enjoy some pretty awesome activities. Like what? Think dance parties, games, outdoor movies and more, some in the exclusive Circle “C” lounge and others around the ship.
Build A Bear Workshop At Sea
A Carnival cruise gives kids plenty of chances to make new friends, but never before quite like this. When kids visit the Build-A-Bear Workshop at Sea, they use their small hands and big creativity to bring a new stuffed friend to life.
Art & Crafts
Arts and crafts are a fun way to spend an afternoon. To adults, it’s a great way to relax and express their creativity. Your Carnival cruise presents plenty of opportunities for everyone from budding Picassos to master Monets.
Seuss at Sea
From the whimsical and always wonderful world of Dr. Seuss comes Cats in Hats, Fish Red and Blue, and both kinds of Things 1 and 2. And they’re all coming to a Carnival cruise near you like the world of Dr. Seuss leaps off the page and onto Seuss at Sea.
Seuss-a-Palooza Story Time
Experience Dr. Seuss books like never before at Seuss-a-palooza Story Time. Watch as your favorite stories come to life in a setting that’s as one-of-a-kind as the Dr. Seuss classics themselves. But don’t just take this one sitting down as an audience member at Seuss-a-palooza Story Time you’ll find chances to interact as the story unfolds and perhaps even become a part of the story, yourself! Also, be sure to keep an eye open for unexpected, delightfully costumed guests who may very well be stopping by to make a special appearance.
Seuss-a-Palooza Parade
Stand up and cheer for the Seuss-a-palooza Parade, now streaming down the deck of select Carnival ships. Join characters you love and a flock of your fellow fun followers as you become part of the spirited procession of the biggest (and smallest) fans on this side of shore. This parade spreads the fun, so go spread the news and to think that you’ll do it on your Carnival cruise!
Zumbini
Cruises are great for relaxing unless you’re a kid! Since kids have virtually unlimited energy and you know they definitely bring it with them on vacation your Carnival cruise will get your kids moving and developing with Zumbini, created by Zumba & BabyFirst. On every sailing, kids 2–5 years old will enjoy a free 30-minute Zumbini class that brings together the same musical fun that families love on land.
Space Cruisers
In partnership with Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, so budding astronomy fans can enjoy the authenticity of NASA-inspired activities to help them blast off to a love of the cosmos. Activities vary by Camp Ocean age group and sailing, but some include building and racing Mars Rovers, designing and testing bridge physics, playing space-themed bingo, plus hands-on learning about how objects orbit in space.
Turtles
There’s arts and crafts, dancing, educational games, a storytime featuring Dr. Seuss® favorites, Zumbini, sensory play and more, always hosted by qualified childcare experts, and always just right for kids their age.
kids Meals for Campers
Yours's kid will enjoy pizza, chicken tostadas, mini burgers, fruit, french fries, nacho-baked broccoli cauliflower, chicken nuggets, hot dogs, bacon mac N cheese and more! They should save room for dessert, because your young ones will be pretty excited with Oreo chocolate cake and banana rainbow mousse split.
Kids Menus
Feature foods that are delicious and fun enough to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. You got all the familiar options they love from home, like spaghetti and meatballs, chicken nuggets, hot dogs, mac-n-cheese, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and — yes mom — fresh fruit and veggies

Wellness

Massage
At the onboard spa, where they do these amazing massages by hand. Select from different hands-on experiences featuring seaweed for detox, herbal poultice for energy, bamboo for deep tissue penetration and hot stones for perfection. You know you’re all about feeling good, and so are these massages.
Zspa
Carnival cruises understand them, which is why they have tailored the onboard ZSPA treatments to their unique needs. ZSPA keeps teens looking their best from head to toe, with everything from trendy hairstyles to pedicures.
Facial Treatments
One of the best ways to put a smile on your face is with a nice, refreshing facial. Of course, there’s more to it than just feeling great… post-facial, your rejuvenated skin will also be looking its best, so there’s definitely substance behind the good looks you’ll be catching glimpses of in all the mirrors you pass.
Medi-Spa
Carnival cruise contains a Medi-spa. Certainly not saying that you need them, but if you’ve been thinking about Botox or Dysport treatments, this spa is a good place to do them. Get them on vacation and they’ll always be administered by the onboard Medi-spa physician, a licensed medical doctor.
Hair & Beauty Salon
A trip to the salon is an opportunity to relax, to chat with others, to focus on yourself. It’s about more than just getting your hair or nails done, but it’s definitely about getting your hair or nails done! Even though you’re on vacation, you won’t have to settle for anything less than the salon style you’re used to backing on land.
Fitness Classes
A great attitude that keeps you working hard at the gym, but still not sees the results you’re hoping for. If that’s the case - or you’re just looking to shake things up with a little extra fun or challenge in your workout - check out Carnival’s selection of onboard fitness classes.
Fitness Center
However, for your body, which will definitely benefit from all the extra energy that vacationing pumps directly into you. And let’s not forget the extra time you’ll have since you won’t be waking up and spending most of the day at the office or anything like that.
