Enjoy a morning tour of Paris, taking in all its iconic sites. Later in the day, visit Montmartre, long known as the city's premier artist's enclave. During the mid to late 1800s, artists also began calling Montmartre home. Pissarro and Jongkind were two of the first to live there, followed by other notable artists. For easy access to Montmartre, hop aboard the funicular railroad that ascends the hill. Montmartre's most recognizable landmark is the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur, constructed from 1876 to 1912. The white dome of this Roman Catholic basilica sits at the highest point in the city. (B),

A visit to Honfleur is in itself a complete history lesson, from the 100 years war, through the voyages of discovery to the New World during the 17th century to the art of the impressionists. Le Havre: D-Day Beaches - 9 hours
The numerous monuments and memorials on the Normandy coastal area bear witness to the fierce fighting that took place here during and after the D-Day Landings of World War II. Your driver-guide meets you after you have departed your cruise ship and takes you on a full-day tour of the American Sector to visit some of the most important sites of this pivotal point in the war.

Your day starts on the famous coastline at Pointe du Hoc, which the US Rangers scaled, demonstrating a triumph of planning, training and execution by elite and well-led troops. Further eastwards along the coast is the sector known as Omaha Beach, also captured by invading American forces, and where you can examine several sites from both the German and US perspectives. You also hear about Operation Aquatint, a failed 1942 British Commando raid on the area. Your day ends with a poignant visit to the US Military Cemetery and Interpretation Centre at Colleville-sur-Mer, the final resting place of over 9300 US soldiers located on a bluff overlooking Omaha Beach. You are transferred back to your cruise ship from here.

Paris 10/09/2024

Enjoy some of the most famous sights in Paris during your panoramic tour. You will be guided through the charming Latin Quarter, home to the world-famous Sorbonne University, and through the stunning 400-year-old Luxembourg Gardens, created by King Henry IV's widow, Marie de' Medici. In the afternoon, travel to Auberge Ravoux in the heart of Auvers-sur-Oise, the last home of artist Vincent van Gogh. His spirit still lingers in his former attic rooms at the Ravoux Inn. The mere 70 days Van Gogh spent in Auvers-sur-Oise were astonishingly prolific as he painted more than 70 works here before his death. Or, enjoy the exquisite architecture of the Château de Saint-Germain-en-Laye, along with its museum and gardens. AmaWaterways: AmaLyra
After her launch, the AmaLyra quickly earned a Best New River Cruise Ship distinction in comfort and style. Perhaps it can be attributed to AmaLyra's rippling Main Lounge carpet, evocative of the river, or her elegant love seats in varying shades of blue. Or maybe it was because of the scenery afforded by the ship's French balconies, or because of the exquisite cuisine served by the Main Restaurant and in a delightful, multi-course production as part of The Chef's Table experience. Whatever the reason, savor the comfort of staterooms appointed with Entertainment-On-Demand, unlimited Wi-Fi, movies, music and English-language TV stations.
