Cashel (Tipperary)

Cashel (Tipperary)

Cashel, located in County Tipperary, was once the seat of the Kings of Munster. The town lives an enchanted life under the protection of the Rock of Cashel. This cluster of medieval monuments rises dramatically out of Tipperary's Golden Vale. As you make your approach to the City of the Kings you suddenly get a glimpse of the fairytale site the Rock of Cashel, which was hallowed by Kings and ecclesiastics long before the dawn of written records. Conquerors also paid unwarranted visits to this historical site and now thousands of visitors explore the ancient ruins. The architecture of the buildings reflects the aspirations of the people. While the Rock may dominate the landscape, Cashel was home to numerous religious orders for centuries, and the interesting ruins of the 13th century Cistercian and Dominican Abbeys may be explored close by.

Dublin enjoys one of the loveliest natural settings in Europe. Dublin attracts visitors from around the world with its old world charm and friendly atmosphere. Most of the architecture dates from the 18th century, when Dublin enjoyed great prominence and prosperity. Also of interest are stately Georgian houses which front Merrion Square. O'Connell Street is considered the commercial center of Dublin. Perhaps the most memorable feature of Dublin is the traditional pub, where visitors can enjoy conversation over fine Irish brew. The city also offers many fine parks, including St. Stephen's Green and Phoenix Park. National Gallery's renowned collection includes works by such famous masters as Rembrandt and Monet.
