Ban Thaton (Baan Thaton) is a small village in Thailand located along the Mae Kok river. Ban Thaton is known for its friendliness and peaceful settings, and many find this beautiful setting conducive to meditation. Thaton has maintained its traditions and customs, and visitors enjoy trekking the beautiful hill tribe villages to experience their way of life. Depending on river conditions, Chiang Rai is approximately 3-4 hours from Ban Thaton along the Mae Kok river in traditional long tail boats.
Chiang Saen

Chiang Saen

Chiang Saen is a sleepy village in the Chiang Rai Province south of the Golden Triangle in northern Thailand. In 1262, it was once a major city of the Lanna Kingdom and originally named Wiang Hiran Nakhon Ngoen Yang. By the 16th century, Chiang Saen was captured by the Burmese and raided in 1803. For nearly a century, it was left a ghost town until 1900 when it slowly began to repopulate. Travelers visiting Chiang Saen can tour the city’s National Museum, stroll through the ancient sites of Wat Phra That Chedi Luang, pray to a 1,200 kilogram Buddha statue in Wat Phra Chao Lan Thong, explore the Thai architecture and temples at Wat Pa Sak, and meditate on the serene Chaing Saen Lake.

Known as the "Pearl of Thailand," Phuket offers pristine beaches, lush vegetation, traditional villages and seascapes of huge limestone pillars that rise above the turquoise waters of Phang-Nga Bay. With a culture all its own, it combines Chinese and Portuguese influences with that of indigenous ocean-going people. Phuket Town is the island’s capital located in the southeast. The architecture features the attractive Sino-Portuguese style which is reflected in the spacious residences built by wealthy Chinese tin barons as testimony to their success. Visitors come because of the glorious beaches, especially those on the west coast. Patong Beach is about a 45-minute drive from the port and offers a wide selection of watersports. Phuket still casts its spell on all who come to its shores.

The province contains Thailand's northernmost point at Mae Sai, is well known for its crisp mountain scenery, and hill tribes, and falls within the region known as the Golden Triangle, the area where the borders of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos converge.
